HomeDeviceWatch privacy policy and terms

Last updated: 26 September 2026 · In-app notice version: 2026-09-26.2

HomeDeviceWatch is responsible for the processing described here. Contact us about privacy or support using this contact form. This policy covers the HomeDeviceWatch iOS and Android apps and their security-check service.

Information kept on your device

Your device inventory, optional serial numbers, saved security assessments, onboarding progress, privacy acknowledgement and settings are stored locally. Inventory uses the app’s private database. Serial numbers are not included in security-check requests. Your operating system’s backup settings may apply to local app data.

Signing keys stay in platform-protected storage. Session credentials are protected using Android Keystore encryption or iOS Keychain. The service receives a public signing key, not your private key.

Required registration and app verification

After you acknowledge the privacy notice and finish onboarding, the app must register with our service before you can enter it. Registration and session renewal use installation identifiers, platform and app-version information, public keys and integrity-verification evidence. Our server can see the connection’s IP address. Registration does not submit your device inventory, and you do not need a personal login account.

Security checks and server records

When you pull to refresh or choose Check devices, the app may submit device identifiers, manufacturer, model, device type and optional firmware/hardware versions to our server. These details are matched against vulnerability information. Recent cached results may avoid a new request. A missing vulnerability match does not guarantee that a device is safe.

Background checks from your phone are optional and off by default. You can enable them, choose a frequency, or disable them in Settings. Operating systems control when background work actually runs. Disabling this option stops future scheduled checks from the phone.

Contact and external links

Choosing Contact opens an editable email draft addressed to our email [sorry spammers 🤣 ]. It includes the platform, app version, phone manufacturer/model and operating-system name/version. On iOS, the model may be a hardware identifier such as iPhone17,3. The draft does not include your inventory, serial numbers, installation identifier, bearer tokens, keys or logs. You may change or remove its contents; nothing is sent until you send the email. Your email provider processes the message, and we receive your email address and the content you choose to send. Our support mailbox is hosted by Google/Gmail.

Opening the full policy, a store listing or a shared link takes you to the relevant external service. Your browser, store or sharing application operates under its own privacy terms.

Your choices and privacy requests

You can change background-check permission in Settings, edit or delete local devices, and choose whether to send a support email. Required registration remains part of using the app.
